Dragon Spawn

This is what i learnt today in senior first aid - one of the methods of treating anaphylactic shock.

If the sperm of a dragon, a unicorn, a centaur, and a tyrannosaurus rex were to somehow FUSE to produce a single offspring, that offspring would be composed of a raw substance only commercially obtainable by harvesting the glands of 69 of these mutant offspring and distilling the glands into a pure form of liquid in a mixer made of a titanium-adamantium-awesomium alloy. This liquid fury would then be pressurized into a single atom by the Large Hadron Collider and then launched into deep outer space to absorb the energy of an exploding star, by which it would have barely sufficient energy to be turned back into a liquid essence, which is then captured by aerospace experts and placed into EpiPens.

These EpiPens give the user a 0.3 mg boost of adrenaline - otherwise known as dragon-spawn, superhuman juice (Hulk Potion), or the Philosopher's Stone - which enables him or her to ascend into the transient state where demigods reign, and are able to party all night and feel like they have popped three pingers without the associated feelings of coming down, munting and scat.

Today the point was raised that the reason for Ryan 'Korean Elvis' Kwen being in the zone every hour, every day, every week was that he has somehow managed to get his hands on an inestimable stash of EpiPens.

I want in. I want an EpiPens before a hard night out on the town.

Time to join the big boys

This post is dedicated to Preetpaul Uppal, possibly the best/worst wingman i know. He's a paradoxical wingman.

For the first hour or two at a club on a friday night, my friend prego pumped me full of $5 jager bombs and endless pep-talk about how easy it is for an ethnic pair (harold and kumar) to pick up white chicks at soho.. fucking epic fail.

Anyway yeah, this is a shoutout to you, bro. Even though we didn't get any white chicks, i half succeeded, and you will forever be remembered as the wingman who made me choose bros before hoes.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, so we're about 3-4 days out from the start of BGD (Beginnings, Growth, and Development) and i'm feeling pretty pumped. The other day, i bumped into a primary school friend who, upon hearing that i was a med student at UNSW, laughed for like 10 seconds then asked: "no... but seriously". This fresh start to the medicine course (that counts) is a way for me to prove that i'm not as dumb as i am awesome - and trust me, i am awesome.

Here are my goals for this teaching period:
- P+'s, with room for a single P
- Get the name of that hot korean second year
- Not go clubbing (unless it's free entry... oy my gahh i have like $22 in my account.)

Here are my goals for the rest of the course:
- Honours list
- A reputation as "the incredibly smart but incredibly awesome guy"
- A white chick (not realistic)

Ciao!

End of Foundations =[

This is definitely not a time to celebrate =P the course that doesnt count is over!! =[ very gay

Our timetable for the next course came out today... i have an incredibly shit one... like seriously, it is beyond atrocious. NO DAYS OFF!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! they havnt included the lectures yet, but when they do.. ='[ the amount of time we spend at uni is quite consistent tho, its around 18-20 hrs a week. like 6 hrs more than what we're used to =_= GAY! and every second day i have during the week is a 2 hr day =_= and 4 hour breaks come every fortnight or so for me.. bahhh!! i need a laptop, itl make life easier to do work during breaks. oh well.. hopefully its true that college A gets a better timetable next semester, if we dont.. im going to rage like a lil mofo on crack... seriously >=[ we dont evn go to the hospitals this teaching period!! very disappointing, but we have more clinical sessions, which i suppose is a decent substitute considering we still dont know anything yet.

urgh, anyway... we join the second years next week. i dont know if its a good thing or a bad thing yet. hopefully i hav a cool group, otherwise im definitely changing for next semester. hopefully theyre so insecure about our work quality that theyll pretty much do everything =D

The amount of effort i put into foundations did actually pay off, because now i know how hard i need to work to pass and how much more work i need to do to actually do very well. i put about.. 60% of my total effort capacity into the course so many improvements to come, but i dont think i need to go nuts until about 3rd or 4th year coz my view is that u need a good record over the last few years of ur course so that when employers look at it, they can see that u didnt fluke the last year or 2, there will be a sustained effort and they should accept u =] so for the next year or 2 i suppose il aim for consistent Ps (or a credit average) =] years 3-6 would have much more interesting stuff anyway so it wont be that hard to add the extra effort.

anyway, first aid course on thursday and friday.. i wish i had renewed my one from year 9.. would have given me a 6-day weekend =_= dammit... oh well.. thats all for foundations =] i was going to talk about my assessments and what not, but i cbb... nothing wrong with them, everything fit the criteria to get Ps for everything. getting a P+ seems incredibly annoying to do. oh well, im out =] il post again when uni life starts getting shit =P

oh! and i also would like to mention... AHAHAHAHAHAHA NEW ORLEANS SUCK!! hahahaha who loses by 58 points in a playoff game???? like seriously?? AND at home!! man.. the crowd would have been giving shit to their own team... ahahahaha!! gw denver =D utter humiliation!

First Clinical Session! Sorry Lorraine!! and the others in the crew!! xP

Finally back after a long absence. This will be the first of a series over the next couple of days =]

Anyway, I'll start with this morning when I was madly fretting about making sure I looked proper for our clinical session and ended up running a little late. I was running around the house looking for various items, and seemed to leave the house just in time to catch my train. When mum drove off from the station after dropping me off, I immediately realised that I had forgotten to bring the apparently crucial immunisation record card. The guy at the Office of the Dean said that SWS would be quite strict about it and I should make sure that I brought it... but stupid me I didnt xP so at this point I was shitting myself, freaking out and trying to think of what to do. So that was when I asked the greatest person in the world, Lorraine xP, if we could swing by my place before we went to pick up my card. The awesomest person that she is, she agreed =] and I was very relieved =].

Then I got to uni apparently looking spiffy xP and not awkward like Josh =P. Anyway, we then headed off to Arthur St, to do the introductory clinical skills session. This wasn't very eventful, just learnt about the different aspects of disease and illness. Never thought about it in that sort of light before. Well, after this was the epic trip xP.

Ok, so it started at the maccas down at Kingsford where we all met up at like 11:15 before heading off in Lorraine's car. I shouted her a bit of lunch for the effort she was going through for me =] I still owe her so much more xP anyway, it was me, rola, jia qi, jim n lorraine in the car and we set off. Now, I only knew the way to my place from the M4 or the M7, and according to the map we had, the most direct way to the M4 was via Anzac then Cleveland, then onto parramatta road. Parramatta road was an absolute bitch to get through because of traffic. I thought this entire trip would take about 40 mins or so to my house... but anyway, we eventually got to the M4 and we kept going all the way to wallgrove. Swung by my place and by that time, it was about 12:40 xP almost an hr n a half since we left uni =_=

Anyway, it was like a toilet break pretty much, I was busting to go xP Rola and Lorraine had some face time with Hooch, the most crazy dog they will ever meet xP It did Rola's hate of dogs any justice =P I still love Hooch tho =] anyway, we then headed off after a quick stop, onto the M7 then down to elizabeth drive n then all the way to liverpool hospital, with a minor detour looking for parking spaces. Then we all showed up about 25 mins late to the tiny classroom xP our entrance was very noticable =P. So we're just listening to the people talk through the guidelines n whatnot... signed a few forms... n then went on the tour of certain wards. We went through the trauma ward with a patient that had a massive motor collision that was in the news i think, and they had police and a detective there too to get a statement. pretty intense. At this point I felt like a proper med student.. finally!! =] then we went to the cardiology ward and just looked at how the system worked. Then we were done!! after about 2 hrs... and oh yes... as u may hav noticed... WE DIDNT NEED THE DAMN CARD!!

URGH!! i was so pissed =_= made me even more guilty for wasting everyone, especially Lorraine's time n effort!! baaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh... If by chance u heard about this blog and are reading this.. i must say sorry again lorraine!! xP urgh.. i feel so bad =_= and then wen i got home via trains, it was about 5 o'clock?? i went on facebook and discovered that it took Lorraine 35 mins to get home from liverpool... she lives in north sydney... i was like. :O wtf?! n apparently it would have taken 20 mins max from uni via the M5 =_= baaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!! at that point i felt like total shit xP I am forever in debt to Lorraine xP sorry again!! ahhhhhhh!! gay gay gay... well im off to feel more guilty xP

I know this was meant to be short prego but i couldnt help it xP

The Mid-Sem Break

The midsem break is a piece of shit for foundations kids.

There are two kinds of students: those who will study during the break or at least try to catch up or revise on what has been learnt in the past 8 weeks (IT'S FOUNDATIONS GUYS!), and those who will get irate when asked by others how much they study and respond with

IT'S FOUNDATIONS GUYS

It'd be great if Hung could post his two cents on this, because i for one am of the latter category, while he is one of the rare few who goes home every day and unscrupulously records his lecture and prac notes into a concise summarised form, and then downloads the next day's lecture notes and previews the coming lectures. I'm not complaining - he's the one that saved me and a few hundred others a few hundred times during the HSC. But cmon man,

IT'S FOUNDATIONS GUYS

I am seriously thankful that i got into med. I truly am. But I have also asked second and third years whether or not it is worthwhile going through foundations junk so as to get a supposed 'edge' over our studies in BGD and AE. I deadset asked them: "Is Foundations really a bludge where we meet people and do gayrevue or do i have to study a bit?" Guess what they say to me, and everyone else who asks them the same thing:

IT'S FOUNDATIONS GUYS

The other day, i got told off - yes, literally told off - by a third year for caring too much about my Foundations group project.

True story. Enjoy your midsem break folksss

An uneventful week

...not.

I know it's been a while since the weekend, but I'd just like to dedicate this post to Preetpaul "Prego" Uppal, whose epic 18th birthday party 50 or so students attended last saturday night. Beer was chugged, slurpees were slurped, and the jumping castle was, surprisingly, only used for jumping - given that there were a fair few white chicks and guys there.

I'd like to start my recount of events in chronological order. On the saturday afternoon before prego's party, a monumental event occurred in my life. It's something that you wouldn't expect of a medicine student, but it still happened, and i think it's changed me for the better. For those of you who know, don't go around telling the world, and for everyone else who doesn't - tough titties.

The night of the party was pretty good - a 45 minute drive listening to hard dance and trance was pretty shit, except for when i changed lanes and almost killed the guy behind me. Oh well. The party was good, and you know what they say, 'What happens at prego's stays at prego's.' (Nothing huge happened)

The crux of this post is what happened in the few hours afterwards. I left prego's house with a sober mind, praying that i wouldn't register 0.00001 BAC if i was RBT'ed, and went to the Namkoong household for a night of much needed rest.

What happened was i changed Jason's display picture and status to something a bit naughty - but al in the name of fun and games. I understand his anger, but you should understand MY ANGER when i woke up to find i had a face full of soap and the fucking love of my life - my car - was moved up the street. You have to understand - JASON DOESN'T HAVE HIS EFFING LICENSE, and i have already crashed my car twice. My Dad would've owned me.

Well there you have it, i cooled down after a few games of Left4Dead, and now i'm just thinking of ways to get back at jason. Any suggestions?

Prego's Party... Thanks man!

Thanks Prego, his family and associates for the party!! pretty hectic night with multiple chunderers. I didnt get smashed!! hahaha... thats pretty much a first for any of our old school parties. I suppose the responsible side of me is becoming more prominent again, but i do still appreciate witnessing sloshed people go do their thing bahahaha. oh prego, weenie and indy... the ones that had the maddest time of us all! lol! although indy was probably the only one feeling some regret =P

anyway, yeh this is just a thank you post =] it was quite a good night.

Thanks again mate!
